Get the house in order before AI gets ahead of you.

An idea only works if the information is fit for the task, people know the rules, and someone owns the result. This family is that work: data, policy, skills, adoption, cost, and responsible use.

It can clear one blocker, or put shared foundations under several priorities. We start from what you want to achieve and the environment you already have, then agree what is necessary now and what can wait.

Who it is for

The right foundations for the work ahead.

A focused use case may need a better knowledge source, a permissions change or one integration. Several initiatives may justify shared data, common patterns and a stronger way of operating. We can begin with a readiness review of the data, skills, ownership and operating needs around the AI you intend to use.

  • The direction is clear, or the licences are already bought, and adoption is uneven.
  • A specific blocker is in the way: data, access, cost, skills, or nobody owning the rules.
  • A pilot went well, and scaling it needs foundations the first trial did not include.
  • You want an honest view of readiness before a wider investment.

If you are still choosing where AI could help, an AI opportunity sprint is the lighter start. If several priorities need one funded plan, that is roadmaps and strategy.

The outcome

You know what is ready, what changed, and who moves next.

The engagement can assess a defined use case or a wider set of priorities, agree the enabling work, and help deliver it. Scope may include configuration, data preparation, integration, evaluation, cost visibility, rules of use or operational handover.

What is included

The work that makes useful AI possible.

Take the pieces the situation needs. They are designed to be commissioned together or on their own.

  • Data and knowledge people can use

Identify the information the use case depends on and make it suitable for the task: ownership, definitions, quality, structure, retrieval, freshness and access to trusted sources. A knowledge assistant, an analytical use case and an automated workflow can need very different data.

The work can be as focused as preparing one knowledge collection. Where several priorities justify it, we help shape reusable data and a platform around the uses it has to support. That can include designing and building the agreed ingestion and transformation steps, and establishing how the information will be maintained.

Microsoft Fabric may be a suitable part of the solution in a Microsoft environment. We assess it alongside the tools you already have and the capacity you have to operate them. The platform follows the work.

  • Policy, governance and responsible use

Practical rules people will follow: which tools are allowed, for which work, who can approve a new use, and what a person has to check before an output is relied on. Light enough to use. Firm enough that "someone in IT" is not the answer.

The security and compliance boundary is a different practice. What an assistant may read or do, how that sits with data protection and UK GDPR, and what the EU AI Act changes for you, sits with NeuraSec's secure and compliant AI service. We do not give legal advice. A general explainer is in our EU AI Act and UK regulation article. Where the question is a management standard, ISO/IEC 42001 readiness sits with NeuraSec.

  • Adoption, skills and operating arrangements

Who owns the solution, how people will use it, what support is available, and how changes will be managed. Practical guidance and adoption activity around the way the team already works.

Mentoring and role-based training can be commissioned on their own, or inside a wider arrangement. That offer lives with ongoing AI support. For continuing monitoring and day-to-day operation, NeuraMSP can shape a managed service.

  • Identity and access that fit the workflow

How people, agents and services reach the information and actions they need. Agreed identities, permissions and connections, with a named owner and a way to remove access when it is no longer required.

A specialist identity or AI security assessment comes in through NeuraSec when the work requires it.

  • Integration and the path to release

Connect AI with the systems and processes around it. Choose and configure suitable tools, define interfaces, and prepare a repeatable approach to development, testing and release. The choice follows the use case and your capacity to operate it, whether that is an existing productivity tool, a focused agent or a broader platform.

  • Copilot and agent delivery foundations

When a promising use of Microsoft 365 Copilot, or an agent, needs to reach more people, the supporting design matters. We connect the rollout with your information, identities, systems and operating arrangements, using what the first users have already shown you.

The work covers the users and workflows in the next stage, information sources and access, licence and integration choices, configuration and release, evaluation and human review, and training, ownership, support and handover. We can advise, help configure the agreed components, and support implementation.

A selected group getting started on agreed tasks is the Copilot enablement accelerator. Where the rollout needs a clear line on what Copilot or an agent can read and do, that sits with secure and compliant AI. Naming Copilot is an example of a tool many organisations have already bought, not a partnership.

  • Monitoring that shows whether it works

Agree how to judge output quality, usage, reliability, and the points where a person needs to check or intervene. Put the monitoring and feedback in place so you can see failure, understand adoption and improve the service. We define what a useful result looks like before deciding what to measure.

  • FinOps for AI: cost you can understand

An AI cost review is more than the cost of a model or a licence. The useful question is what it takes to deliver and operate the outcome, including the data, the integrations and the people.

We help you baseline relevant licences, usage and consumption where evidence exists, spot underused capacity and duplication, make spend visible to the people responsible, agree budgets and reporting, compare delivery options and their running-cost implications, and define how the intended value will be assessed. Recommendations may include changing configuration, matching licences to real use, improving adoption or choosing a different approach. Any change in spend depends on the starting position and the decisions you make.

We also help you agree who reviews the numbers and when the position is reassessed. Ongoing managed optimisation can be scoped with NeuraMSP. A plain-English article on why this gets away from people is in our insights.

How it works

From the gap to the thing that closes it.

  1. 01

Start from the use, not the platform

What you want AI to help with, who will use it, and the environment it has to work in.

  2. 02

Separate what is necessary now from what can wait

A readiness view of data, skills, ownership, access, cost and the rules of use. The list is proportionate to the work in front of you.

  3. 03

Do the enabling work that is in scope

Configuration, data preparation, integration, evaluation, cost visibility, practical rules, or the handover into operation. We agree the boundary before we start.

  4. 04

Leave a record someone can own

What is ready, what changed, what still needs attention, and who takes the next action.

We can also design and deliver an agreed AI solution, or extend one you already understand. That can follow a pilot. Where the build needs wider architecture, specialist assurance or ongoing operation, the engagement can bring in NeuraEnterprise, NeuraSec or NeuraMSP.

What you get

Foundations matched to the work, with names against them.

  • A clear view of the gaps that matter for the use in front of you, and which of them can wait.
  • The agreed foundations put in place, where implementation is in scope, and handed over.
  • Practical rules of use, and a named route into secure and compliant AI where the boundary is the question.
  • A view of cost and use that someone owns, with assumptions written down.
  • A record of what is ready, what changed, and the next actions.

Examples

Foundations, described plainly.

  • A UK metropolitan borough council

Phase one was a substantial data lake enabler: a medallion data architecture (bronze, silver and gold), readiness for a Microsoft Fabric IQ ontology, and an operating model.

  • A well-known national charity

A short engagement as it started its AI journey: practical AI principles and governance, and design input for a future data capability. A foundation, not an organisation-wide AI programme.

Questions

Short answers.

  • Do we need a data platform before we can use AI?

Often you need a better knowledge source, clearer ownership or a permissions change, not a new platform. A shared data platform earns its place when several priorities depend on the same information. Microsoft Fabric can be part of that in a Microsoft environment. The platform follows the work.

  • Is this a security assessment?

Enabling services cover the practical foundations: data, rules of use, skills, adoption, integration and cost. The security and compliance boundary, including UK GDPR and EU AI Act questions, sits with NeuraSec's secure and compliant AI service. NeuraAI does not give legal advice. A gap assessment against ISO/IEC 42001 sits with NeuraSec security readiness.

  • Can you configure Copilot, or only advise on it?

Both, within an agreed scope. A selected group getting Copilot working on real tasks is an accelerator. Preparing a wider rollout, with information, identity, testing, support and handover, is enabling work. What a Copilot or agent is allowed to read and do is agreed with NeuraSec.

  • What does AI FinOps mean here?

A practical view of licences, usage and the services around them, joined to the work that spend is meant to support. We help you see underused capacity, make spend visible to the people who own it, and agree how value will be judged. It is not a promise of a saving.

  • Will you write us a legal AI policy?

We help you put practical rules in place: which tools are allowed, for which work, who approves a new use, and what a person must check. Legal interpretation of UK GDPR or the EU AI Act stays with your counsel. NeuraSec helps you understand the practical control questions those rules raise.
